Are you an Android phone user in India? Did you know that you can print photos and documents from your smartphone wherever you are? All you need is a compatible HP printer. With HP Mobile Printing for Android, you can stay connected to your printer even when you are on the other side of the country. Let’s take a look at how to print from an Android phone in India.
In the early days of home printers, you had to connect your device to the printer via a cable. Fortunately, this method of printing is long gone. Today, you can print wirelessly using the Internet. However, there is a difference between wireless printing and mobile printing.
Mobile printing is a little more complicated. How does your phone communicate with your printer when you’re not in the same room or on the same WiFi network?
Most HP printers support mobile printing from Android devices. You can also print from an iPhone, but that’s a topic for another article. There are two main methods for mobile printing from Android in India, depending on the type of printer you are using and where you are printing.
Most HP printers allow you to print from your Android device, as long as your device is connected to the same WiFi network as the printer. Your device can send print jobs to the printer over the shared network. To print using WiFi:
On your Android device, go to the Google Play Store and search for “HP Print Service Plugin.” If you don’t have it installed yet, click the “Install” button to download and install it.
Once the app is launched on your device, you can select Print, Share or Export from the drop-down menu. Tap on the printer icon to print. Popular Android apps that support printing in India include:
What if your printer and Android device can’t connect to your WiFi network? No problem! You can still print from your Android device using WiFi Direct. Most HP printers released after 2014 have WiFi Direct.
With WiFi Direct, you can connect your device to your printer using a printer-based wireless connection. Here’s how to use it:
Go to the Reports menu and select Network Summary or Network Configuration to print a network summary page that will include your name and password.
When you are near the printer, you can use WiFi or WiFi Direct. But what if you are not near the printer? Maybe you are on the other side of town or even in another city and you need to print a work document for the office or an important document for your family. In this case, you can use HP ePrint.
HP ePrint is a mobile printing feature that works with a variety of HP printers. Compatible printers are pre-configured with a unique email address and can print any photos or documents you email from your Android device. Your Android device must be connected to the Internet, but does not have to be connected to the same network as the printer.
To print from an Android device using HP ePrint, you first need a compatible HP printer. Then follow these steps:
Click Print or Print Info – the printer’s email address will automatically be displayed on the control panel and an information page containing the printer’s email address will be printed.
On your printer, go to Web Services Setup, Network Setup, or Wireless Network Setup, and then follow the on-screen instructions to turn on Web Services.
If your printer doesn’t have a touchscreen or text display, you’ll need to use the HP Smart app to print from your Android phone. We’ll talk about HP Smart later.
Long press the screen to select everything, then press Copy. Note that this will include all ads and widgets on the web page. If you only want to copy text, carefully select what you want to highlight and copy.
Save the document to your device. Attach the document to an email, send the email to the printer, and then click Send.
You may have noticed that HP ePrint does not allow you to customize print settings. The default settings for HP ePrint are as follows:
However, some eligible HP printers offer additional print options when added to HP Connected. HP Connected is a program that allows you to customize print settings for your network printer. Once you add your printer, click My Printers to change print settings. HP Connected also allows you to change the email address for your printer.
HP Smart is an app that you can install on your Android phone or tablet and is one of the easiest ways to print on the go. To use HP Smart:
If your wireless printer does not have a touchscreen or text display, click Print Information Page to obtain the printer’s email address for HP ePrint.
With HP Smart, you can now print photos from social media, the cloud, or your camera roll. You can scan documents with your camera and send them via email or to the cloud, and order new ink for your printer.
